Designing with Heart: Kali-Lu x Savvy Giving by Design Project
There are some projects that remind you why you fell in love with design in the first place. For us, this was one of them.
Back in December 2025, Kali-Lu Interiors began our first partnership with Savvy Giving by Design, a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming bedrooms and play spaces for children facing medical challenges. From the moment we were introduced to this incredible family, we knew this project would be about so much more than selecting furniture, paint colors, and finishes. It was about creating spaces that would support daily life and their medical needs, celebrate three amazing brothers, and give a deserving family a place to make new memories.
Three Brothers, One Big Adventure
For months, our team worked behind the scenes designing three spaces for brothers Elijah, Elias, and Everett. Every decision was made with their family's unique needs in mind, balancing function with creativity and making sure each room reflected the joy and personality of the boys who would call it home.
When install week finally arrived, the brothers headed off on vacation while an incredible team of designers, contractors, installers, and volunteers got to work. In just one week, the home underwent demolition, construction, installation, organization, and all of the finishing touches needed to completely transform the spaces before the family returned home.
Designing Three Spaces for Three Brothers
The project centered around three unique spaces, each with its own purpose.
The “Shared Bedroom”
The shared bedroom where Elijah and Everett sleep and where Elias often joins them, was designed to comfortably accommodate all three brothers. An L-shaped bed with a trundle provides flexible sleeping arrangements, while a dedicated medical cabinet keeps the twins' daily medical equipment safely organized yet easily accessible.
One of our favorite details is the custom LEGO bench, beautifully crafted by the talented team at Proof Builders. Complete with built-in storage and a LEGO play surface, it creates a dedicated place for imagination, creativity, and plenty of future building sessions.
Elias's Bedroom
Although this room is a dedicated space for Elias to wind down and explore his creativity, it was also designed to celebrate the bond shared by all three brothers. New furniture gave the room a fresh start, while a custom wall mural became the centerpiece of the design. Featuring all three boys' names and interests woven throughout the artwork, the mural serves as a lasting reminder of the connection they share and the adventures they'll continue to experience together.
The Playroom
The playroom became the heart of fun and imagination. A brand-new foam pit, colorful foam cubes, playful storage solutions, and a bold color-drenched ceiling transformed the room into a space designed for movement, creativity, and making memories together.

It Takes a Community
One of the most rewarding parts of this project was seeing how many people came together to make it possible.
We were grateful to partner once again with our friends at Bee Organized Central Denver, whose thoughtful organization systems helped ensure the family returned to spaces that were not only beautiful but practical for everyday life.
Throughout the project, we also had the privilege of working alongside talented contractors, craftsmen, vendors, and volunteers who generously donated their time, skills, and resources. Watching so many people come together for one purpose was a powerful reminder that great design is never created by one person alone.
A Reveal We'll Never Forget
On June 26, we had the honor of joining the reveal celebration as the boys and their incredible mom, Rachel, saw their transformed spaces for the very first time.
There are few moments in design more meaningful than seeing someone's genuine reaction to a space created just for them. The excitement, smiles, and joy shared that day are memories our team will carry with us for years to come.

This experience was a beautiful reminder that generosity has a ripple effect. From donating time and expertise to coming together as a community, every contribution helped create a space that will support this family for years to come.
